UI Design System & Motion Designer As a UI Design System & Motion Designer at Abacum, you'll own the foundation of our product's visual language and bring it to life in motion. You'll be accountable for our Abax Design System, keeping it consistent, scalable, and increasingly AI-consumable, while crafting high-quality motion and video that showcase our platform. You'll be part of our Abacum Design team, working closely with Product Designers, Engineers, our Brand Designer, and Marketing. What You'll Do:

• Own the design system. Maintain, evolve, and scale the Abax Design System — components, tokens, and patterns — as the single source of truth in Figma and Storybook.
• Make it AI-consumable. Structure components, tokens, and documentation so AI tools and agents can reliably generate and assemble on-system UI. Help our design system become a foundation that both humans and AI can build with.
• Design in motion. Create internal videos and motion pieces that showcase the platform — micro-interactions, transitions, and prototypes that make the product feel alive.
• Collaborate with Brand & Marketing. Work with our Brand Designer and the Marketing team to produce videos with exceptional quality and motion effects — for launches, campaigns, and product storytelling.

Who You Are

• You are efficient, proactive, and thrive in fast-paced environments. You can wear many hats, juggle shifting priorities, and take end-to-end ownership of projects. Optimally, you have been part of an early-stage startup.
• Design systems craft. You have deep, up-to-date knowledge of UI patterns and design systems — components, tokens, and scalable structure. You care about consistency and pixel-perfect detail.
• Motion maker. You bring interfaces and stories to life through motion. You're comfortable producing polished videos and effects (e.g. After Effects, Rive, Spline, or similar), with a strong sense of timing, easing, and craft.
• Systems and AI mindset. You're a logical thinker who enjoys understanding, visualizing, and simplifying complex systems. You're curious about how AI consumes structured design, and excited to shape a design system built for that future.
• You understand the fundamentals of software development, particularly front-end, and know how to create efficient and scalable UI solutions (not in code).
• Portfolio: We look for potential and attitude over experience. It does not need real client work, but should show solid UI and design system craft, plus a motion or video reel that demonstrates your sense of quality.
• Tooling: Expert proficiency in Figma and Design Systems, plus hands-on motion tooling (e.g. After Effects, Rive, Spline).
• Location: Based in Barcelona (essential).
• Language: Professional English (essential) + Spanish/Catalan (nice to have).
