The Harlem YMCA is seeking a Teen Director who will lead the management and implementation of all teen programs at the Harlem YMCA.

The Harlem YMCA is seeking a Teen Director who will lead the management and implementation of all teen programs at the Harlem YMCA. The Teen Director's responsibilities include the management of staff, program development, program deliverables, budget, outreach, recruitment, and key community partnerships such as local schools. The impact of teen programs will be carefully measured and monitored for continuous improvement. Teen programs take place during the school year concurrent with the school day, after school hours, and Saturday evenings. Teen programs also take place during the summer on Saturday evenings. The Teen Director will supervise all teen travel, including overnight and multi-day trips.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required. A college degree in the Education or Social Work is preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) year of experience working with teens/youth and planning activities.
  • Teen Staff must be 21 years of age or older.
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of development and administration of youth programs, supervision, and contract management.
  • Knowledge of AS400, budgeting, and public policy is desired.
  • Essential Functions
  • Recruit, select, develop, train, and supervise staff.
  • Responsible for implementing and supporting staff in implementing diverse teen programming complete with robust data tracking while maximizing all funded contracts.
  • Manage administrative data entry in various systems, including Youth Service.NET and AS400, coordinate participant paperwork, conduct program surveys, and meet all other requirements outlined by city agencies and in the YMCA’s Teen Standards.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of children in the program by providing close supervision of all activities.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement program registration, programming, workshops, and special events with support from part-time Teen counselors.
  • Directly facilitate teen programming in lieu of the Teen Advisor when a position is vacant.
  • Ensure that programming is led with a focus on Social Emotional Learning and skill development.
  • Lead the marketing and distribution of program information; help to compile program statistics.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor the program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Establish and maintain links with service providers in various settings, including other CBOs, schools, and partnerships.
  • Attends designated meetings, training sessions, and special events related to teen programming.
  • Acts as the liaison to the YMCA of Greater New York regarding teen issues.
  • Provides support to the Youth & Director regarding staff management and scheduling.
  • Manage adolescent behavior with respect, maturity, compassion, and encouragement.
  • Create and support an environment that is diverse, culturally sensitive, and relevant to the needs of teens.
