About the position The Customer Support and Services (CSS) Division of the Prince William County Department of Social Services seeks a Temporary Human Services Associate to support our Screening Team. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and possess strong critical thinking skills to make sound judgments using established criteria. They will pivot easily between working independently and contributing to the team. This role involves reviewing applications for public assistance and, using established criteria, determining where they should be routed. This will require researching applicants and registering them in databases for SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), Medicaid, and TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) applications. You will upload documents into management software, schedule appointments, prepare correspondence, and send letters to clients explaining their rights and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Review applications for public assistance.
• Determine where applications should be routed using established criteria.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• 1 year of related experience in customer service and administrative support
• Possess a valid driver’s license and be eligible to drive for work

Nice-to-haves

• Strong computer skills, especially using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Possess strong skills in fundamental math
